An interesting methodology to pull together marketing trends. My own 10 trends features.
While seeking to bring 2008 trends prediction from an angle not suggested before, TrendsSpotting chose to present the Meta Trends for 2008. Running a unique methodology, we selected a group of 10 marketing influencers as well as 10 web/tech reviewers suggesting their trends forecast for 2008 on the public media.
We profiled each forecast according to 3 relevant categories for general trends predictions: "in", "out" and "yet to come". Finally - we ran a tag cloud on all forecasts to present what will be "In" for 2008.
You can see these trend experiments in two presentations running on trendsSpotting blog.
TrendsSpotting's blog also includes one on technology trends.

That’s a great idea, gathering top marketing gurus together to try and define or at least predict marketing trends. In this way, the audience can relate to different perspectives and learn from different experiences. After all, there is no one rule to marketing.
One interesting perspective on interactive marketing trends for the next 5 years comes from Shar VanBoskirk of Forrester Research. Her report, "The US Interactive Marketing Forecast: 2007 to 2012" really seems to have its fingers on the pulse of the Search industry. As I was lucky enough to see her speak (I work at a large SEM/SEO firm), not everyone is so lucky.
Actually, the AMA, Forrester and IMPAQT are teaming up to hold a Webinar focusing on this topic on March 4. You can actually register here if you're interested. Perhaps some marketing minds will come together during the Webinar and present a focused prediction of what may happen... We can hope!
Mobile media is certainly the big thing for 2008 - 2009. In Australia we are just about to launch the iPhone and businesses are scrambling to work out how to make the most of this sort of technology.
One idea is to have free wireless hotspots that are only accessible to iPhone users that display local offers.
One of the Australian carriers, Telstra, allows free connection to their hotspots at their stores anc McDonalds if you have a contract with them.
It isn't great because you have to sign up for a 2 year contract but its a start.
I predict the rise of mega digital advertising agencies in India. With a well educated and English speaking population with cheap labor rates, it makes sense that over time large corporations will outsource some online advertising tasks to Indian companies.
